Giant African Black Millipede Facts:
  • This is the largest species of millipede - can grow to 38.6 centimetres (15.2 in).
  • African Giant Black Millipedes are extremely docile & thus can make good invertebrate pets.
  • Scientific name - Archispirostreptus gigas
  • Range - Tropical & sub-tropical western Africa
  • Diet - Eat bananas, tomatoes, melons, romaine lettuce, apples, cucumbers, and other fruits and vegetables.
  • Special dietary features - should have a supply of calcium added to their diet, i.e. calcium powder.
  • Environment - Terrestrial & also burrow.
