Multidrug-Resistant Tuberculosis (MDR-TB)


Multidrug-resistant TB (MDR-TB):
  • Caused by Mycobacterium bacteria that are resistant to at least isoniazid & rifampicin.
  • These 2 drugs are the most effective anti-TB drugs available.
  • MDR-TB can be either a primary infection with resistant bacteria, or develop during the course of a patient’s treatment.
