Yersinia Pestis Infection (Plague) Untreated Mortality


Following the sad news of Professor Malcolm Casadaban's death from septicaemic plague. These are the reported mortality rates for untreated Yersinia pestis (plague) infection.

There are 3 main forms of the infection:

Bubonic plague:

Pneumonic plague:

  • 90-95% (ref 8)
Septicaemic plague:
