Siberian Tiger (Panthera tigris altaica)

Facts:
  • Siberian tiger (Panthera tigris altaica)
  • Also known as the Amur, Manchurian, Altaic, Korean, North China or, Ussuri tiger.
  • Now completely confined to the Amur-Ussuri region of Primorsky Krai and Khabarovsk Krai in far eastern Siberia.
  • Largest of the eight recent tiger subspecies.
  • Largest living felid.
  • Almost identical genetically to the now extinct Caspian tiger.

These four cute female Siberian tiger quadruplets were recently born in Braunschweig Zoo in Germany, July 2009.
